School Safety

Your child's safety is our primary concern. With this in mind, the following rules have been put in place to assure a safe and productive environment both in the classroom and on the playground.

  1. Follow all directions given by an adult
  2. Respect the rights and property of others
  3. Be on time and ready to learn
  4. No roaming on campus. Passes are required.
  5. Walk on campus; bikes, skates, skateboards must be walked.
  6. Leave toys and gum at home.
  7. Use only acceptable language.
  8. Bullying, fighting, and violent acts (pushing, kicking, spitting, throwing of objects, etc.) will not be tolerated.
  9. Sexual harassment will not be tolerated and may result in suspension.

Students that do not follow these safety precautions may be asked to spend time after school in their classroom to consider their behavior, may be referred to the counselor or, in particularly dangerous situations, may be referred directly to the principal for counseling.

Some disciplinary violations are so severe that they require an immediate suspension from school grounds. These would include, but are not limited to, theft, property damage, possession of weapon, fighting, assault, alcohol, drugs, as well as threatening a staff member.

The district's Zero Tolerance Policy states that students found to be in possession of a firearm shall be immediately suspended and recommended for expulsion.

Formal suspension from school may last anywhere from one to five days. During the period of suspension, the student is to remain at home during the school hours under the direct supervision of the parent and is prohibited from entering any premises of San Diego Unified School District.
