GATE in the Middle School

Grant K-8 School offers both Seminar and Cluster classes in its Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program. GATE classes in the middle school are differentiated from standard classes in the Humanities in that they are designed for students who generally show advanced comprehension, a faster pace of learning, and an ability to handle greater depth and complexity in the curriculum. Enrollment in these classes is determined according to standard district procedure. Placement in Cluster classes is done on the basis of previous GATE identification with remaining spaces being filled based on standardized and/or GATE test scores. Placement in Seminar classes requires district Seminar identification. If spaces are available in a Seminar class, GATE test scores are used to place the remaining students. Admittance to Grant's program is based on meeting site-specific eligibility requirements. It is Grant's policy to provide equity in student placement. If you have questions about the GATE program, please contact Anne Anthony. [email protected].
