Middle School - Site Seminar Designation

Who Can Be Site-Designated? San Diego Unified School District initiates the identification process of gifted students through universal testing in grade 2 - all second graders are tested. Students are reviewed for retest eligibility in grade 5. If your child is enrolled in grades 2 through 5, the district provides re-testing opportunities through the Grant K-8 School psychologist, Heather Mulno.

If you wish to request a re-test for a child in grades 2-5, please visit the district website www.sandi.net, then Home > Departments > Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) to review the criteria for qualification for a re-test. Site-designating a Seminar student is not available in grades 2-5.

If your student in enrolled in grades 6-8 AND is already GATE identified, a parent may request a site-based evaluation of their child. (Placement in Grant's Seminar program is based on space availability.) If your child fits the criteria, please download the forms necessary to begin the redesignation review. The first is a form that should be filled out by the parent/s and the second is a form that should be duplicated and completed by your child's teachers. Detailed instructions are included with each form.
