Insurance Enrollment

San Diego Unified School District has Certified Enrollment Clerks to help you enroll your child in Medi-Cal or Covered California insurance. To contact the district's Certified Enrollment Clerks (CEC), call (619) 571-3332 for additional information to qualify or contact the school nurse at your child's school.

Beginning the 2015-2016 school year, California public schools were required under AB 2706 to provide information to families about their health coverage opportunities and enrollment assistance. This bill takes advantage of the role schools can play in connecting children and families to health coverage and has the goal of increasing the number of uninsured children and families who enroll in health coverage.

Starting May 2016, undocumented minors up to the age of 19 will be eligible to apply for full Medi-Cal insurance. Undocumented and non-citizen or permanent resident parents should not fear that applying on behalf of their children or dependents who may be eligible for programs will result in deportation or other immigration-related actions. Unlike Covered California, Medi-Cal enrollment is open year-round.

Please contact the health office at your student's school for questions and to start the referral process.
